Pro-Apoptotic, alternative splicing factor TIA-1 RRM1-RRM2-RRM3 domains bound to RNA, for comparison with TIA-1 protein alone. The average solution conformation of three TIA-1 RRMs is an obtuse V shape. The tandem TIA-1 RRMs become more compact when bound to RNA.
All proteins were purified by gel filtration and confirmed to be monodisperse by DLS. RNA was added to the purified protein in an equimolar ratio. SAXS data were collected from 3 different concentrations (6.7, 3.3, 1.6 mg/mL) and exposed for 6 and 60 seco
